About the Owners
Alice and Henry Howell are siblings and co-owners of Chancton House. They have a deep love for the place where they grew up, and revel in bringing the peaceful escape to others.
Alice Howell
Alice moved from Bedford to San Francisco to pursue a career in luxury, adventure-focused travel in 2007. As Vice President of travel start up, Stoke Broker, she helped build a business that enabled people to pursue their travel dreams in remote corners of the world - from Iceland to Patagonia to Palau. She moved to Austin, Texas in 2021 to start a job at fintech GoodLeap, working with executives to strategize and execute leadership retreats and impact travel.
Alice has traveled widely both personally and scouting for bespoke, luxury travel. She fundamentally understands high end hospitality.
Henry Howell
Henry moved to London 17 years ago to pursue a job at Goldman Sachs. He spent sixteen years at Goldman and became MD and global head of electronic futures. He is now CEO of Skolem Technologies, a London-based decentralized trading platform for institutional customers. Skolem is designed to reassure nervous institutional clients with concerns around best execution, back office integrations and compliance and risk considerations.
Henry is an avid runner, he has completed dozens of marathons including the fabled Marathon de Sable in Morocco. He can tell you everything about running Bedford.
